Rising Korean Boy Band sensation, MBLAQ of Korean Superstar Rain’s entertainment production recently held a radio interview over at MBC Radio. In the interview, MBLAQ talks about a lot of things about their career as a new boy band group. One of MBLAQ’s member Thunder (far right in the picture above) also known as Cheun Dong is known as the brother of 2NE1’s Sandara Park.

In the radio interview by MBC Radio (video) below, we can see and hear Sandara Park’s brother, Thunder show off his talent of speaking Tagalog or the Filipino language! But not only that, MBLAQ’s Thunder did it in flying colors! I am really amazed with the accent and everything! I am so happy about it! See and hear for yourself at around 8:15!!!

All I can say is that, Thunder has done a good job! It pays to have Sandara Park as your sister! You’ll do good in the Philippines, too! I’m sure MBLAQ’s fans in the Philippines will love you more because of what you have said! Keep it up!

Just recently, the 60th Philippines-Korea Friendship Festival was held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila, entitled “Pops in Seoul“, which was really a smashing hit! Different fans of K-pop idols and Pinoy pop groups gathered together in this one monumental event. The 60th Philippines-Korea Friendship Festival Concert was hosted VJ Isak from Korea and the Philippines very own Luis Manzano.

The event featured live performances from different groups with the highlight of the night went to K-pop boyband group SHINee. It was a night of cultural exchange of music, song and dance. I am not really surprised when the big announcement on Pinoy Big Brother Double Up on ABS-CBN last Sunday was made by Big Brother himself regarding the change of the nomination process where in the televiewers have now the power to evict the housemates which they think has no right to stay inside the Big Brother house. My initial reaction was, “So, direk lauren (PBB Business Head Unit) finally did it!”

A few weeks ago, when direk lauren and Cathy went home from Finland, he tweeted in his twitter account these phrases:

“paano ba bumoto ang tao, yung gusto lang nila? i wonder kung may bumubuto for those na nakakainis para di maging boring ang bahay…” (how do the people vote, those housemates that they like? I wonder if there will be votes for those housemates that make someone angry to make the house not boring…)

With the above-mentioned tweet, direk lauren wanted to know if Pinoy Big Brother will not become a boring show if people have the power to choose who they wanted to see on television. This idea I think is superb… because people will only see who they wanted to watch on Pinoy Big Brother… Direk Lauren said this was a format done in Big Brother Finland when he went there. He wanted to know if this one will be clicked here in the Philippines… I think it will…!

Hate votes.
If people will now vote for the housemate/s that they wanted to be evicted inside the PBB house, chances are… the housemates are now getting hate votes. It’s like a fan-base text votes in reverse. For example, all the fans of PBB Housemate Rica will vote for Rocky because they hated Rocky for what he has done to Rica. So all of the fans of Rica will vote for Rocky for him to be evicted.

Same thing goes if Mariel’s bitchiness can affect the show, then the people can vote for Mariel if they wanted Mariel to be evicted and so on and so forth for the rest of the housemates.

As for me, this new eviction format is okay with me. I only have to see what I really want to watch on PBB. So, I will only have to text the name of the housemate/s that I wanted to be out of the house for this week. So, who will be evicted this week? I really don’t know, only the televiewers can decide!

Eviction process
So, who among the 15 remaining housemates on the Pinoy Big Brother houses would you like to be evicted this Saturday? 2NE1 girls

Popular korean girl group 2NE1 has once again part of the Korean television (their first one was the Lollipop TVC they have done with LG alongside with Big Bang) with their television commercial to a popular ice cream cake maker Baskin Robbins. The endorsement is meant for Christmas due to the cake designs and snowy feel background.

Dressed in pink overalls (is that what you called them?), the 2NE1 girls, Sandara Park, CL, Park Bom and Minzy are set to entice everyone to buy Baskin Robbins penguin-designed and snowman-designed Christmas Ice Cream Cake. Watch their TVC below.

There is nothing like the loveteam of Pinoy Big Brother Housemates Melai and Jason (also known as MelaSon) when it comes to giving the kilig factor while watching PBB Double Up on primetime. But yesterday’s revelation on the 6th nomination night of Pinoy Big Brother Double Up was really a shocker! Girl housemates from both houses were exchanged! This could only mean one thing — the MelaSon loveteam will be on a indefinitely leave! Waaaahhh…

Anyway, before the parting ways of Melai and Jason last night, they were seen dancing and singing (lipsynching) together on the Sunday Musical variety show, ASAP ‘09 on ABS-CBN! It was a cute sing and dance number with ex-PBB housemates Tom and Princess on the side… but the main highlight of the production number is really Melai and Jason. It is also the first we saw their imaginary love child Dengghe (oh yeah.. that’s the correct spelling!) to dance with them… aahhh.. it was a cute number indeed!

Starstruck V is the reality artista-search of GMA 7 now on its fifth season of showing it. The show made star or superstar status to a number if celebrities such as Katrina Halili, Mark Herras, Jennylyn Mercado, Megan Young, and Cristine Reyes to name a few of them. In the long showing of reality program, to those who are really religiously following this reality show, we have seen this program in primetime television of GMA 7 where it was included in their Telebabad block for four seasons. Now that Starstruck is back on their fifth season to date, what will happen now to the future of this reality show program.

For four seasons, as I said, Starstruck, has been part of the primetime habits of the many followers of the show. But this season has become something different for the loyal viewers. Starstruck V is put on an earlier timeslot… before Family Feud, which by the way is before the start of GMA Telebabad primetime block. We all know and advertisers know that primetime is the best time of the day for most shows or programs in Philippine television. If a show or a program did not make it on primetime, chances are, advertisers are not into the show. On a side note, it is better for viewers for a show or a program to have a lesser commercial load (knowing GMA 7 abuses the overloaded commercial load, having lesser commercial for a program on their station is better for televiewers), however, it is bad for the management of GMA 7 to have their program to have a lesser number of advertisers. This could only mean lesser profit and the show is not that successful.

Anyway, moving on, I am writing this because I want to share why Starstruck V will not succeed in the ratings game ever if GMA 7 management will not put Starstruck V on their primetime slot. Here are what I think might be true:

• Starstruck V is being shown before Family Feud. On GMA 7 timeslot, before means they have no definite timeslot. But Family Feud usually comes at 6:00 PM, so Starstruck V must be shown before that. If my calculations are correct, Starstruck V is being shown on a 5:30-5:45 PM timeslot. If Starstruck V makers’ target audience are the teenagers aged 13-19 years old up to the demographics age of 23 years old, chances are, Starstruck V will not be viewed by their target audiences. Why? Teenagers on the said age bracket are only on their way home from school. How can they, Starstruck V viewers, possibly watch their favorite program if they are only on their way home, right? Bring a television set while on a jeepney ride? Duh!

• Second, Starstruck V is shown on a timeslot where the competing network’s show, PBB Double Up über is also being shown. How can Starstruck V will compete to a program which already has some followers for several months/weeks now to their show which just started just recently? Wrong move again, GMA 7!

• Third, I can’t believe why GMA 7 decided to make their korean drama Shining Inheritance even longer when the reality program Survivor Philippines: Palau ended? I mean, people following the Survivor Philippines: Palau show still have this “ooommph” to the timeslot of the said show. Why GMA 7 did not take the advantage of using that timeslot for people still with the impact of Survivor? And to those who are still following Shining Inheritance, they can also take advantage of it by waiting the televiewers to wait their favorite korean drama while watching Starstruck V? Tsk tsk tsk… again.. wrong move for GMA 7!

If these pointers will continue, chances are, another wasted production of program/show is being seen in the future. What do you think?

Fans of the hit korean drama series Boys Over Flowers will not become over the drama ever when they finally have the Luxury Edition Original Sound Track of Boys Over Flower with added new songs and an acoustic version of the main theme of the drama, “Because I’m Stupid” also known as Ji Hoo’s theme.

If you will still remember, I posted last July a blog entry on Ji Hoo’s Theme (Because I’m Stupid) acoustic version with piano playing. Ji Hoo, played by Kim Hyun-Joong of SS501, is the best friend of Jan Di in the Boys Over Flowers series. Jan Di, however, like Jun Pyo much better. Jun Pyo and Jan Di ended up together at the end of the series in a marriage proposal.

Anyway, the cute part in the korean drama Boys Over Flowers was the theme song of Ji Hoo to Jan Di. I simply love Ji Hoo’s theme, especially the acoustic version o used in the drama when Ji Hoo and Jan Di are in Macau. But the acoustic version used in the drama series was a bit shorter than the usual length of the song. Because of this happenings, fans of the said drama are asking the makers/producers of Boys Over Flowers to have a full length version of the acoustic version of Ji Hoo’s Theme aka Because I’m Stupid acoustic version. Well… for the fans of the drama out there… wish granted!!! hehehe…

Cathy inside the Big Brother Finland's Confession Room

It was almost a week ago when Cathy of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) and Kätlin of Big Brother Finland (BBF) swapped houses for the first time and made another remarkable landmark in Big Brother history. For a week, of staying in Finland, Cathy has already become close to all BBF housemates.They took the SPA together, they played in the snow, she even taught BBF housemates to sing a Filipino Tagalog exercise song, “Paa, tuhod, balikat, ulo” (which you are about to watch in the video below where I find it very akward for a goodbye song… hehehe) and of course partied together until they were drunk.

Meanwhile in the Philippines, Kätlin also said her final goodbyes (and kisses) to PBB housemates, especially to Hermes who she had a very close relationship with inside Kuya’s house. Kätlin learned a lot of new things, she ate balut, danced Filipino tradition dances, learned Filipino cultures and values and many more.

The Big Brother Swapping event was truly a success to both countries, I can say, because Filipinos already learned to love Kätlin and so did the Finnish people to Cathy! The housemates from both Big Brother houses loved the swapped house visitor from their respective countries. Aside from that, I really got hooked on what’s happening with Cathy in the BBF house, of course with her and Aso, a Finnish housemate and Kätlin with Hermes inside the PBB house.

Anyway, the finnish housemates, as I said will truly miss Cathy, especially Aso, he was a bit sad in Cathy’s goodbye video in Big Brother Finland.
